How it works

From curiosity to care, in clear steps

Vytals lets you explore an interactive body and build a personalized set of lab tests. What you build is a request. A licensed BC prescriber reviews it and decides what is appropriate. Here is the whole journey, from first click to the moment you understand your results.

Building a panel on Vytals is a request, not an order. Nothing is sent to a lab automatically. An independent, licensed BC prescriber reviews every request and authorizes each requisition, or declines tests that are not appropriate. Vytals is not the prescriber and not the lab. Results are information, not a diagnosis.
The walkthrough

Seven steps, start to finish

Each step is designed to be clear and unhurried. You are in control of what you build, and a clinician is in the loop before anything reaches a laboratory.

Explore and build

Start by touching a part of the interactive body, or browse the list view if you prefer. Each area reveals the tests and themes connected to it, written in plain language. Every test tells you what it measures and one honest reason someone might choose it. You can begin from a curated set, such as general wellness or heart health, and adjust it freely until the panel reflects what you actually want to learn.

Create an account

When you are ready, create a minimal, privacy-first account so your panel and progress are saved. We collect only what is needed to authorize and coordinate your testing. Your personal and health information is handled under BC PIPA and PIPEDA, stored and processed in Canada, and encrypted in transit and at rest. You can review your panel and change it before anything is submitted.

Prescriber authorization

Your request goes to an independent, licensed BC prescriber, who reviews what you have chosen. Where it is clinically appropriate, they authorize the requisition for a professional fee. They may decline or adjust tests that are not suitable for you, which is a safeguard, not a hurdle. Authorization is a clinical decision and is not guaranteed for every test. Vytals is not the prescriber.

Book the draw

Once a requisition is authorized, you take it to the contracted laboratory, or book through the site where that option is available. The laboratory performs the sample collection, whether that is a blood draw, a swab, or a self-collection kit sent to you. You pay the laboratory directly for the tests. Vytals is not the lab and does not perform the analysis.

Results, handled with care

Results return securely through the platform. Abnormal or urgent findings are flagged and escalated with real follow-up, so you are never left alone with a worrying number. Results are information about your body at one point in time, not a diagnosis. Some sensitive results, such as certain genetic tests, include counselling as part of the process.

Your results, tracked over time

Results return into your private portal as trends over time, with plain-language explanations. If you would like help understanding them, a clinician from the prescriber network can walk you through what the numbers mean and what reasonable next steps might be. This optional conversation is not a diagnosis or a prescription, and you are free to skip it.

Downstream care, where treatment follows

If your results point toward treatment, that is a decision for a prescriber, and we help you get there. You may use any pharmacy you choose. Vytals is not a substitute for care from your family doctor, and we will point you to your regular care team or publicly funded services when that is the better path.

Money, plainly

What you pay, and to whom

Vytals is private and self-pay. It is not billed to MSP. There are three separate money flows, and you see each one clearly before you commit.

Prescriber authorization fee

Paid for the clinical review that authorizes your requisition. Authorization is a clinical decision, so this covers the prescriber's time whether or not every requested test is approved.

Laboratory test fees

Paid to the contracted laboratory for the tests you actually have done. This amount varies with the tests you choose, and the laboratory sets these fees.

Optional add-ons

Optional fees for extras you can choose, such as a home or mobile blood draw, specialty panels, or a conversation with a clinician from the prescriber network to walk you through your results. You only pay for the add-ons you select.

All prices are to be confirmed before launch and will be shown clearly at checkout. For the full breakdown of these three flows, see the pricing page.
